It was here in the depths of the Northern Ontario forest that his family members would play guitar as they tended their trapline\, and Nick found himself soaking in songs and lyrics. \n——————- \nG.R. Gritt \nJuno award-winning artist Greyson Gritt was born on the Canadian Shield\, raised on a dirt road\, and lives as a trans\, queer\, non-binary folk-blues musician in Sudbury\, ON. With a mouthful of soul and a truckload of blues\, this Anishinaabe-Métis songster and producer is releasing their first full length studio album in early 2020. \nYou may recognize Greyson as a creative force of Quantum Tangle\, the 2017 Juno award-winners for Indigenous Album of the year. Greyson’s solo work was nominated for Best Blues Album by the Indigenous Music Awards. In addition\, Greyson’s work with Quantum Tangle has been nominated for Outstanding Engineer and Outstanding Album by NOMFA and won the 2019 NOMFA for Outstanding Indigenous Album. DESCRIPTION:TBA is a concert series featuring lineups of unannounced performers representing the diversity of Toronto\, and beyond\, free from any hype or headliner. Transcending genre and encouraging collaboration\, the Series cuts through descriptors to get to the heart of what matters: Great live music. \nRather than focus on who’s playing\, or what ‘kind’ of music to expect\, audiences need only open their ears and minds to a musical journey that will pay off with an unbiased\, up-close-and-personal experience of live music in cozy confines. \nParticipating artists will be asked to find a point of collaboration that drives home our interconnectedness\, and the power of music to transcend boundaries. \nChapter 1 opens the Series at the future site of Revel Park\, the soul of Vaughan Metropolitan Centre\, where a former retail space has been transformed to the perfect venue for a focused experience of the power of music to engage\, enlighten\, and entertain. \nThree artists will perform\, and collaborate\, for an intimate audience. \nIn our endeavour to make events accessible to all\, ticket prices range from $0-50. We ask that you spend in proportion to your capacity to do so. All funds received make current and future programming possible. \nDoors open at 3.30 and the show runs from 4-630pm. There will be a CASH bar. \nRevel Park is located by Vaughan Metropolitan Centre\, the TTC’s newest\, and north-est\, subway stop (Line 1)\, at Highway 400 and Highway 7. Or a noisy fury blaring out a cacophony of frustrations and dreams? \nMaada’ookii Songlines features 200 voices from 8 diverse choirs\, 4 soloists and a fusion Indigenous musical ensemble in a new massive choral experience composed by Luminato veteran\, Juno Award-nominated cris derksen. As the sun descends and this free outdoor massive choral event begins\, the city will be enveloped in sound coming from the land\, water and from above. A soundtrack for the city\, the performance comes with a powerful history and a promise: “as long as the sun shines; as long as the waters flow downhill; and as long as the grass is green.” \nMaada’ookii is an Ojibway word\, with several slightly different meanings. It is a genderless word. He/she distributes something; he/she gifts something; he/she shares something with others.
